Short Term Medicare Plans are designed to cover individuals for major medical expenses up to a maximum limit of between $500,000 to $2,000,000. They do not qualify as a Qualified Health Insurance Plan (QHP) under the Affordable Care Act. They are meant for short term coverage of between 6 months to 12 months. They do not cover pre-existing conditions and their are several health questions that must be answered in order to qualify for coverage. Their premiums are very low compared to QHP because they do not cover pre-existing conditions and they only cover you for a limited time period.
